A twisted cypress is a symbol of Carmel Bay, its roots clinging to the sparse soil. This shot is taken on the 17-mile drive just north of Pebble Beach. The Central Coast in the Carmel region retains some of the most pristine beaches of the entire California coastline, and is host to resident collections of seals, sea otters, sea lions and to seasonal migrations of a wide variety of ocean sea birds.
