The Soquel Creek lagoon, familiar to summer visitors, is absent in this winter view. Greatly increased flow in the creek as it drains the Soquel/Aptos foothills, can cause a new vista from the esplanade restaurants. On occasion the creek can curve along the entire Capitola village frontage wall before emptying into the ocean at the rock jetty.
